Audio cuts out during exercise!

DAN BENSCHER 7/28/2020

i wanted to like these but they failed miserably. they are touted for exercise, but they cut out even after minor jostling or exertion. incredibly annoying! they also at times develop unbalanced volumes, though a reset seems to remedy that issue. the audio quality is good when working. i since picked up a set of mifo earbuds with better success.

Good earbuds with one annoyance

Pretribrapper 6/17/2019

I have had these earbuds for about a month now. They replaced my Motorola S9 HD headphones that I had for 5 years that actually fell apart. I use these for mountain biking. Sound is similar to what I had with Motorola. I would like to have them be louder but they do sound good and I am probably just going deaf :) I love that they have built in music storage so I don't need to bring my phone with me for that purpose. Biking with a Note 9 in my pocket isn't the easiest thing to do. Similar to getting a concealed carry permit and walking around with a sawed of shotgun under your clothes. Not ultra comfortable. Headphones pair great with Note 9. Music Transfer is a breeze. THE ONLY THING I HATE...... These headphones have the S Health app built in and I use S Health app for biking all the time but it was not until after I purchased these that I realized the S Health on the headphones is only for Walking and Running. Makes no sense to me. S Health should work for all cardio not just walking and running. I went for a 4 mile bike ride at about 16 mph and when I finished the earbuds said I walked 1.1 miles at 3 mph. SOOOO.. Now when I bike I still need to bring my phone for S Health tracking of my actual biking. If these earbuds could do biking I would have given them 5 stars.

Great Samsung product. Slow warranty exchanges

Fitlover 4/23/2019

Loved this product. Was a battery issue. Wasnt sustaining a charge on one of the earbuds. Not too big of an issue; could have been a defect. But the warranty exchange iis taking way longer than expected. Was told about i will receive my replacement buds in 2 weeks and looks as though i will receive them at the end of the month. Great products but very dissatisfied with Samsung customer care.

Idea great but not the product

KMizak 1/5/2019

I was so excited the first time I purchased these. They worked well out of the box. I tried to get my measurements from kilometers to miles and never could. I was told it could be the lot I received but after 2 returns I decided to live with them. I lost sound in one of the ear buds after a few workouts. Then the other started playing lower. I loved the idea of no wires but these did not work well for workouts.

Good idea, Terrible Implementation

JMN537 12/24/2017

I was given these as a gift and looking forward to finally not having to worry about wires hanging down when listening to music. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out. After 1 week, I would leave the earbuds charging in its case, and after leaving them charging for 2 straight days, I go to put them in and the left earbud says critical battery and the right earbud says 10%. I understand when it comes to wireless, battery life isn't the greatest, especially when devices are drawing a lot of power for the convenience of wireless, but to leave them charging for a couple of days and not have them barely charged at all, is another thing. The light on the little charger case is green which indicates full charge, however when turing them on and syncing them to my galaxy s6, it gives me the critical battery and 10% warning. I love Samsung and pretty much all my electronics are Samsung, but these were REALLY dissapointing. Maybe I have a faulty pair? Could be, but I would not recommend these to anyone.

Very low durability

Jae829 11/26/2017

Within 2-3 months of using the IconX headphones, one of the headphones becomes so quiet that you can barely hear it, regardless of the volume. The headphones are not dropped, and are only used when I run - the rest of the time they remain in their case. This problem has persisted through every pair of headphones that samsung has replaced. It is great that they replace their product, but it is very annoying having to mail in the headphones every 2 months because they stop working. I am now on my 4th pair of headphones that I am now having to return, yet again, for this issue and they have sent back a new pair of headphones each time, with the exact same issue reoccuring each and every time.

Left Earbud Syncing and Charging Issue.

LuvMySamsungVSmyApple 10/11/2017

The left earbud, even after resetting, does not sync or play music and won't even charge properly. That is not the only problem, the earbuds do not sync with the Samsung gear app. Keeps asking me to check my mobile device compatibility or update app. I just bought these earbuds and worked for only a day. Looked at reviews and forums, and this is a common issue with the earbuds and with the Gear App trying to work with them. Good design and comfort but bad software and internal hardware. Not worth the price point for all the headaches. Now need to recontact Samsung again to start a return/refund.

Poor charge and case

BradleyCA 9/5/2017

The earphones are great earphones and work well but they failed to hold a charge at first. My replacement pair have lasted for a while but now the case fails to work and customer service were not the best when informed of this. I would definitely consider the newer model as I hope they have worked out the early problems. The quality of the sound is great and they have a lot of fitting options for your ear. Add that with the bonus of monitoring the heart rate it definitely works out as a good product. Not great when making calls but I don't really use them for that.

After using my headphones for the second time, the right earbud stopped working. The volume dropped significantly and no matter how much I turned it up, it would stay at the same volume. I exchanged my first pair and I had the same problem with the second pair.

Great sound quality, assuming you can find the right fit

AlexsIconxExperience 5/18/2017

I received these and the Gear S3 Frontier watch as a birthday gift in January of 2017, I would first like to say that I several Samsung products (TV, Appliances, Phones, watches…etc) and have always been very happy with the company. When these headphones came out I had to have them for the gym (the main place they get used). I immediately loaded several hundred songs to the onboard 4 Gb of internal memory. I than inserted these into my ear when I noticed the sound quality seemed off, after trying all three of the included ear tips in combination with the included wings, I still could not obtain the song quality I thought Samsung would have. I began to do some research and found that people had similar issues. I found aftermarket "foam" Ear tips that seemed to do the job. Sound quality went through the roof, crisp highs, consistent deep lows. The only time the sound quality suffered (became poor) is when I would lay down to perform any bench press activities. Causing me to have to feel like I had to re adjust them when I sat back up from such an activity. The touch surface I found to be very bothersome and difficult to control, an attempted volume increase often resulted in skipping tracks, or pausing music. When attempting to have conversation with those around me I felt to need to remove one from my ear as I often could not pause in time to listen to anyone (meaning at times it may pause while other times it may higher the volume or skip to the next track). I than elected to use my phone as the music player for the frustration of the touch controls became annoying. The gear app I would say is great, as mentioned I have the S3 Frontier, switching between the two is relevantly simple through the app once you have completed it once or twice. The ability to see battery life, change music players, or utilize the s health is a nice feature of the app. Each time I arrived at the gym and attempted to place the ear bubs in my ear it would attempt to play tracks, skip tracks, higher or lower volume or several "other" touch features indicative of the earbud touch surface even with the phone as the connection device. The app does not make it possible to disconnect the touch feature of the earbud itself (something I believe should be corrected). I often utilize Pandora while working out and have a saved list of songs on various stations, each time I sit back up from a bench press activity and touch the earbud for adjustment it would often skip tracks of songs saved via the Pandora application. I cannot discuss the battery life much (as that seems to be the largest review complaint category) because it makes it though my gym workouts which are usually an hour to an hour and a half. The self-contained charging base it satisfactory and will only charge the earbuds maybe three times. However, I have left them in the charging base unplugged from the include cable over the weekend before and they completely died. Because I own so many Samsung devices and have always had good luck I constantly am trying to convince myself to like these and keep forcing myself to wear them and I know ultimately the inconsistent touch patch will eventually mean the demise of this generally expensive set of Bluetooth headphones. This will be the first Samsung device that I can say I am truly disappointed in, and it is not for lack of trying to like them as I have done everything I could.

Gave Them Away

ConcernedShopper2405 5/15/2017

I usually don't write negative reviews, but if I can save one other person from wasting their money, this will be worth my time. On my quest for the perfect grass cutting headphones, I found these beautifully crafted little devils. They securely fit in my ears, and I could not wait to use them. My excitement quickly faded. The benefits of the design clash with the tap commands. Every time I touched the earphone it did some unwanted function. Often, without touching anything, the earphones would simply shut off and then turn on and reconnect. I have a Samsung note 5, so I don't think compatibility was the problem, but the headphones had a mind of their own. I knew the short battery life might be a problem, but that never really bothered me. Attempting to keep the volume at a level I could hear the music was a problem. The gear software allows you to set volume levels, but every time the headphones disconnect and then reconnected, the volume level would reset to an unreasonable low volume. While the system gave warnings about high volume levels, trust me when I write that at maximum volume, which I was never able to maintain, my hearing was safe. I purchase a lot of "toys." This by far was my worst purchase. If you intend to buy a set of IconX headphones, please do your research. There are far better products on the market. My frustration over this product was so great that I finally gave my set to a friend.

Wonderful Product...

WipeoutAKAjackson 5/6/2017

I bought these because I wanted a new set of ear buds that do not need my phone to listen to music while I work around the yard, work around in the house or just about anything else you would listen to music while doing something. FYI----- USE THE CORD THAT COMES WITH THE EARBUDS. ANY OTHER CORD WILL NOT LET YOU TRANSFER ANYTHING TO THEM. YOU CAN CHARGE THEM WITH ANY CORD BUT FOR TRANSFERRING OR SETUP USE THE CORD THAT COMES WITH THEM!!! 1. Out of the box they were already almost fully charged. 2. Setup was a pain at times but I eventually got them to work... 3. Its a must to have the Samsung Gear App for these to set them up correctly and load music on them correctly. (Do not try and load music Via the windows explorer. I did that and it did not play on both earbuds) 4. Plug them into your computer and let windows set them up for you. Easiest way to get that done. You can also use your Mobile device to set them up Via the Samsung Gear App as well. 5. The ambient feature is nice when your in a room with other people that are talking to you so you can hear them and respond back with out having to raise your voice. 6. Once you get them up and working great you might have to change out the pieces in order to get the desired bass response you are looking for. I used the ones that they came with and bass response was just okay. I changed them out to the largest ones and WOW what a difference that made! 7. The one, two ,three taps on the earbuds is just fine for me I don't have any issues with that at all. Same goes for the sliding up or down to increase or decrease the volume. You can also change that Via the Samsung Gear App as well on your mobile device. 8. Answering the phone with these is easy. Good quality sound and voice transfer is great. They can hear you on the other end fantastic. 9. Love the battery backup/case they come in. Much needed feature for these. I have yet to wear them and drain them out. 10. I am still in the process of learning how to use and navigate the app to better understand these little wonders! 11. The workout feature I have yet to use... All in all, I would recommend these to anyone looking for a set of earbuds that are stand alone with 4gig capacity to load up what ever music you like and take them with you everywhere! Very light and easy on the ears!!

reason i did not give more stars is because the sound volume is not loud enough... i have volume all the way up and it still does not sound loud enough, i want to hear my music...... i want it loud i want control over how loud i want my music, i stop using them cause of that reason, i feel that it was a waste of money, i do like them but i want to turn my volume half way up and it will be to loud, i'm not sure what kind of speakers it has in them , but it can be better.......

JamesBrownInMiami 4/12/2017

Pros: Size, fit, fitness tracking, music storage. Cons: Very sensitive touch pad that launches options too easily, no one can hear me when I use the pods for a call. I also can't hear anyone. The audio cuts out a lot. This has happened when it is connected to the phone, ipod or Smart TV. The gear circle is a much better performing device. Battery life if horrible. Not a step forward for this brand.

Great fitness earbuds!

Petepeter 2/21/2017

Great great great! I've been looking for a good pair or earbuds for my workouts and for when I go running. These are so fantastic! I don't use them to pair with my phone, I use them as a stand alone device to play music and track ny fitness. They've been great and they have great battery life. I've been averaging about 3.5-4 hours per charge. I only have my left ear so I only use the left one. I wish I could activate ambient sound with only one earbud bc when you put them in you really can't hear ANYTHING. Perhaps they will do an update soon to fix that. I was able to find a good deal on eBay for these and they have been such a great purchase so far. I use them everyday at the gym and park. I really hope they make a second gen ones with an even longer lasting battery. Also I hope they integrate these earbuds with a virtual assistant. Like there has been times when I wanted to play a playlist or play all the songs I have by Lady Gaga or something. Would be cool to talk to my earbud and have her search and built my playlist at that time. Overall so recommend these. I love mine! (:

I bought these last month and am very disappointed. They only hold 1.5 hrs of use per charge and if you don't use them in a couple days, they lose charge completely. The buttons are too easy to hit when you don't want to. They also don't deplete at the same speed. You may have one side that dies 5 minutes before the other. Very frustrating. Will not by again.

You need to find creative ways to promote these!!

rgb169 1/30/2017

Awesome! Yes I find these to be the best wireless ear buds on the planet. They fit perfect and if they don't one of the 3 wings & buds most likely will. They stay on your ears. They don't move around when you become more active. In fact, I forgot I had them in during a sparring match and was asked to take them out to my surprise. The sound is so clear at every level and they don't over exaggerate the bass. It is accurate, full and reminds me of a smaller version of my Klipschorns. If have any sense of tech you will pick the little nuances of these gems quickly and if you're not a few days of honest test runs will have you working them like a pro. I will say an hour and a half of Pure streaming is enough for a quality workout, but the three hours you receive when utilizing the stored songs on the internal memory re welcomed option. I bought these refurbished and had no issues and have enjoyed them every time I put them in. I wore these into work one day and one of my co-workers said what are wearing? I showed him. I demonstrated them for him and he mediately said I gotta have a pair. So now four co-workers have them and three wives have them! Every one of them has said other people at the gym havel ask them what they are, so I'm sure the dominoes will keep falling. Thank you Samsung.

Great earbuds

MiSieKK 1/3/2017

I was pleasantly surprised with wireless earbuds. Not only they fitted well onto my ears but they also come with 2 other size fittings. I was little bit skeptical at the beginning if they will stay inside but they actually did. At the beginning they might feel a little bit uncomfortable – it feels like they create vacuum inside your ears, but I got used to it after a while. Ambient sound (they have built in microphone that routes outside sounds to earbuds) feature needs some improvement, especially at higher volumes – you can hear some static and it feels unrealistic since there is a delay in sound transfer. Although I think it's a great solution for music festivals to protect your ears. I was not expecting it to have a built in sports tracker – yes it does monitor heart rate and an activity tracker that syncs data with Samsung Health app. Overall great Bluetooth earbuds, battery lasts a little bit over an hour when streaming music from phone, but included case has a build in battery as well, which charges them as well. Earbuds have their own memory, so you can store over 3GBs of music on them.

Really Great Product

SamsngGuy 1/3/2017

I have been using this product for about a month and half now and am completely in love with it. It feels kinda loose on my ears(might be am not use to it yet), but other than that, it is one of the best product yet. I was skeptical about picking up the calls from IconX but when I did, it amazed me at the quality of the call and the person on the other line could hear me real well. I had just participated in testing this product, but loved it so much that i ended getting one for myself.

Love concept, not performance

Dejo4340 1/2/2017

The battery life is not as promised. The sound quality so not so great. The S-Gear paring when taking one ear in and out is just ok.

Excellent for totally wireless

ajkestel 1/1/2017

I've been using these for about a month now and love them. No wires means they're not constantly being pulled out of my ears. The ancient sound feature is great fit running outdoors add well. If I could change anything, it would be that they use my phone gps to track distance whenever connected through Bluetooth. Otherwise sound quality is great and battery life is acceptable.

Excellent Technology

WSmitty 12/30/2016

After enjoying these for over a month, i have become to learn it strengths and weaknesses. Like everything else that is in a class of its own, the initial awe was that they are the perfect item for anything and everything for enjoying the music lover enjoys. Based on my usage the Pros and Cons are below. Let me make this clear before I begin, I LOVE these ear buds believe they are the perfect gift for anyone who loves music. Pros: The included silicon inserts allow them the be customized for any user, young and old. The included Wingtips goes a step further to make sure they are comfortable and secure in your ear. Once properly fitted, you forgot that they are inserted in your ears. One of the features I love the most is the Ambient Sound. If you are sitting at your desk, and the entire office gets loud, you have the ability to leave the Ambient sound off. When doing this, it is almost like having ear plugs inserted. Everyone gets filtered out, leaving you to complete your work without any disturbances. But if you need to be aware of someone talking and asking questions, but you still want to listen to music, then you can turn the Ambient sound on. This feature allow you to hear the surrounding noises as well as your music. That way when someone walks up to ask a question, they are not standing there behind you screaming your name. One other feature that I have enjoyed with them is the ability to enjoy music while doing yard-work. When you have a 2 cycle motor running such as a weed eater or leaf blower, this noise typically requires earplug or over the head ear muffs (if you want to incorporate a set of ear buds for music enjoyment.), but you still have to turn the volume up to hear over the noise. while using these the background noise has been blocked and the volume can be down at a reasonable level, thus saving your hearing. I cannot say what decibel level these filter out, nor can they be rated as such, but from my experience they work really well for this. The notifications come through from your phone, and can be customizable to allow only the notifications you want to hear to come through. Having to be a Gear S2 owner, I am able to turn off all the notifications, thus enjoying less interruptions. The case doubles as a battery charger, keeping them safe and secure, while re-charging them until they are used the next time. Cons: The Battery life is ok, could be much better. While they are kept in the case between uses, it seems they continuously consuming power and when you are ready for them after a couple of days, the battery is completely drained requiring you to charge them well in advance of needing them. Batteries are slow charging once completely drained, requiring hours of charging before being able to be used, this may be corrected in a future firmware update. Battery capacity is low, requiring them to be charged after 2 1/2 hours of continuous usage, although this does not fit into what they are designed for. They are typically designed for use during fitness activities and most of these do not last multiple hours. so my opinion on this is null and void, but should be noted. They do take some time to get used to the controls and how they should function, i had some trouble with the tap and double tap. No instant feedback on the interface, causing one to wonder they they actually tapped it or not, causing the second tap to be done. Overall, I would recommend them to anyone wanting a top of the line device and willing to wait for these issues to be corrected the future updates.

These hurt my ears and the battery life was not great

G3ntl3man 12/29/2016

These ear buds hurt the inside of my ears no matter what size wingtips I used. The sound quality was good and if it was not for the pain these may have been better. I feel the space for the painful heart rate monitor would be better used for larger battery.

Too Much Extra Effort

PicnicKingdom 12/27/2016

These are an interesting concept but for me, I still prefer over ear or on ear headphones. These have a lot of small pieces without wires that have the potential to be easily misplaced. Also, to use without your phone you need to transfer music to the earbuds via usb. Transferring files is something I hate to do, and I don't like having to do it once from my computer to my phone, then again from my phone to my earbuds.

Great product for working out!

RainyWA 12/27/2016

I regularly work out at the YMCA and have been on the lookout for a solid set of earbuds that match up well with that. My normal go to earbuds have been wired Yurbuds, but I get frustrated when the wire binds up while working out and gets yanked out of my ears, or pulls my phone out of my pocket. In the past I have tried some blue tooth headphones that have a wire between the right and left earbud, but those run into the same issue as the wire gets caught up in my shirt collar and get pulled out. These headphones are wonderful and I wish I ran into them years ago! I will do my best to give my honest review on them. Packaging: Professional. Nice and compact, not a lot of wasted space. What you would normally expect from Samsung. Product Quality: A+. Earbuds are built from solid hard plastic. They look to be built to last and without having to worry about damaging wires, I expect that they would. Most of my headphone in the past die from wire or connector damage. Fit: Once again the product exceeds expectations here well. Just from looking at the picture I wouldn't have though they would work very well, but they fit very snug. I have not had any issue yet with them falling out during any of my work out or cardio. They also come with different sizes of wings and tips for different fits. Look: These things fit well in the ear, and don't stick out much at all. They look good as well. I have gotten quite a few compliments about them and questions based off how they look. Sound: For those who are audiophiles, these headphones are probably not for you. That's not to say the sound quality is horrible, on the contrary the overall sound quality is good, with bass that is there but not overpowering. I can put them on and enjoy the tunes. I have not experienced any sound distortion or sync issues that I have read being reported on other wireless brands. Battery Life: This is the one area it where the headphones leave you a little disappointed. They fully live up to the advertised battery life. 3 hours if you're playing from the built-in storage, or 1.5 if your streaming. Of course, for the purposes of working out and running, this works just fine. The case itself also has a built-in battery that will recharge the cases while they are resting in it. So, after you work out, you pop them back in the case and they are good to be used again. Touch Controls: The basic controls are straight forward and easy to use. The touch pad on the earbuds are very responsive and in some cases, seem a bit too sensitive. I have found plenty of times that during a workout that i stop the song instead of turning the volume up, Whoops! The controls do seem to work well for apps as well. I tend to use IHeartRadio and the basic start/stop/next track touch controls do work. Music Player: Very basic functionality here, which I do hope they improve on. As typical you do need a software program to upload the music to the IconX, in this case the Samsung Gear IconX Manager. I do love this feature as I can load up all my workout tunes and just leave my phone at home. My only wish here is that they build in a playlist functionality. Overall I think they did right with this product and I am fully enjoying being wireless! If you are looking for a solid pair of earbuds for working out I would recommend giving these a consideration.

Great Attempt

GReddy5 12/25/2016

The Gear IconX sounds great. The touch controls are very sensitive. The carrying cause was small and compact and charged the ear buds pretty quickly. The medium size ear buds fit my ear but I couldn't wear it for more than an hour before my ear starts to hurt.

Cool Factor high and High Quality....but has some opportunity areas

Moleman1 12/22/2016

The sound quality, ambient sound feature and phone answering features are OUTSTANDING. Battery life was a little disappointing for any activity outside of an hour or so workout. The ability to answer a call with a light touch and the sound quality during the call was outstanding. The workout feature was not completely reliable and I found the signal to be interrupted during workouts. Non running/jumping activities worked great. The battery life of less than 2 hours meant I had to have an alternative for yard work etc that was longer in duration. Overall VERY COOL high quality bluetooth in ear speakers as long as the few limitations are known and expectations set accordingly.

These motivate me to follow through with my new years resolution this year

Betabuild 12/22/2016

I've been in the market for durable, tangle free Bluetooth headphones that don't clip out from either being in your pocket or bag, these are the ones. I've in advertenly left my phone in my bedroom and walk to the other side the house and the signal doesn't clip nor does the sound quality(my wifi is usually petering out way b4 these headphones. Great build that stand up to a good sweat, comfortable to the point of almost forgetting there on and sleek enough to catch most people off guard that. Add in the heart rate monitor, built in mp3 capabilities and solid, sturdy charging case for neglectful, clumsy techies like myself to complete the package. Samsung keep up the good work

These headphones could be better

Jen85 12/22/2016

I was very excited to test these headphones out. I was a tad disappointed when I did though. The sound is clear but could definitely be louder. I also have some trouble getting these headphones to stay in my ears and while trying to place them back in,I somehow always manage to hit one of the buttons which then interrupts the music I'm listening to. It can get very frustrating. On the plus side they are wireless so you never have to worry about tangled wires, also, they are great for fitness and bluetooth connectivity.

Great for workout

gigastorm 12/21/2016

True wireless headphones. Once setup, I can pop them into my ear and it will automatically switch to the headset. I work out for an hour each day and these gets me through the entire workout. Ambient mode works well so I do not have to take my earbuds off when people are talking to me.

Pretty Great Fully Wireless Earbuds

RichardVA 12/21/2016

I've had these earbuds for a few weeks now and overall am very happy. They are super comfortable. They never feel like they are going to fall out, which is a common issue for me with earbuds. The sound quality is pretty great as well. Granted I'm no audiophile but they sound at least as good as any other earbud I've ever used. The tap/touch controls work very well. It's nice that you can input commands on either earbud. I really like the ambient sound mode. It will pass through outside sound so that you aren't completely cut off from your environment. It's especially nice when I know I'm going to be interacting with people so I don't have to take them out. I don't use the onboard storage much but it's easy enough to set them up on your PC and load music onto them. As far as negatives go, I really only have two. They don't bother me much but YMMV. One is the battery life - it's just too short. I can get around 3 hours of them which is plenty for a gym session or pretty much anything really. I've had them die on me but the times I need them for longer than that are few and far between. The other problem I have is with outdoors connections. Every time I've used them outdoors the sounds constantly breaks up and the track skips around very bad. It's effectively unusable. For me it's not really an issue because I don't spend any significant amount of time using them outdoors. Again, very happy with these earbuds overall. The pros far outweigh the cons for my usecase. If you spend long periods outdoors these are probably not for you but otherwise they're pretty great.

Little buds, big impact.

wjhoward 12/20/2016

First off, wow! These little things pack some huge sound into the tiny wireless frame. I love em to death. Easily paired with my S7 edge, a bit trickier when pairing with certain other devices but still not to tough. Could use a longer battery life but when you eliminate all the bulk like Samsung did, I can't complain. I use mine all the time, charging them in the cool carrying case throughout the day. After pushing them to the limit the first week, I haven't had any issues with them dying on me the way I use them. Fun when used with other gear devices like the Oculus and gear watches. NOTHING tops using these earbuds with the Gear VR device! Even paired them with my laptop so I can listen to my class videos in peace. My friends, and coworkers are amazed at how small they are and the fact that they're sound proof with an optional ambient mode. Overall I'd say these deserve 5 stars.
